The Union Ministry for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) has allocated Rs.1.83 crore to the State this year for assistance to industries going in for hallmark, energy efficiency star-rating, ISI mark or international certification for their products.
According to an official of the MSME Development Institute here, maximum of 75 per cent of Rs.1.5 lakh would be given to the MSMEs as reimbursement of charges for the rating, marking or certification under the National Manufacturing Competitiveness Programme.
BIS mark
At a function held here on Monday, Rs.19.25 lakh was disbursed to 33 units that had gone in for star-rating for pump sets or Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) mark for their products.
Any industry interested in getting assistance under this scheme could contact the MSME Development Institute for details.
President of the Southern India Engineering Manufacturers' Association R.R. Ranghanathen said this scheme would encourage more number of smaller units to manufacture products of better quality and efficiency and, these would be available to the consumer at affordable prices.
More industries were expected to apply this year for the assistance.
