Hackfest is an annual event at Ugam for the last three years and this year, it is a 24-hour contest with nearly 15 per cent of the company’s employees taking part.
According to Mihir Kittur, co-founder of Ugam, employees from its eight offices in different geographies take part, solving a real, complex, consumer problem using hardware, software and data. In Coimbatore, which is one of the eight locations where Ugam has an office, there are 50 participants at Hackfest.
“Diverse teams are brought in and the contest gets practical answers, encourages employees to be agile and work will multi skill sets, and discovers ideas that can be developed,” he says.
Ugam, which is a data and analytics company, is closing the 2015-2016 financial year as the best in the last five years.
