Two persons, sentenced for 11 years and lodged in the Central jail for their involvement in the 1998 serial blasts cases here, were released on Wednesday.
Abdul Kareem and Sardar were among the 166 arrested in connection with the blasts on February 14, 1998 and were sentenced to undergo imprisonment for 11 years, under various sections. Both were released this afternoon, police sources said.
Fifty-eight persons were killed and over 200 injured in the serial blasts, during the visit of BJP leader L K Advani for electioneering.
The Special Court sentenced 57 persons for various terms, including life, and released more than 100 persons, since they had completed 10 years of jail term during the trial period.
