Two more held in RG Street robbery case

The Coimbatore City Police have arrested two more persons who were part of a 13-member gang that robbed a pan masala trader from RG Street of cash and goods worth Rs. 2.70 lakh at knife point here recently.

According to the police, Sikkandhar (33) of Karumbukadai and Shanawas of Kuruchi were arrested on Thursday.

Blasts convict Sikkandhar was convicted for his involvement in the Coimbatore serial bomb blasts. He was released some months ago after he had served his sentence.

The police had already apprehended four of the suspects on Sunday including Ashik Ali, the prime accused.

Others caught on Sunday include Tharik Hakkim, ‘Mottai’ Abbas and Mohammed Ali. These three were also convicted for their involvement in the blasts. Ibrahim, also suspected to be part of the gang, was arrested on Wednesday.
