The Special Court for the Trial of Bomb Blast Cases, Coimbatore, on Monday awarded life term to two persons for murder. Sessions Judge M. Gunasekaran sentenced R. Satheesh Kumar (25) of Kannappa Nagar near Sanganur and S. Harikrishnan (21) of Nallapalayam to undergo life imprisonment for murdering Moorthy (42), a parotta maker, on April 10, 2016.

Moorthy was employed in a hotel at Sivanandapuram. Kumar’s wife Haseema was working in an office close to the hotel. Haseema and Moorthy were allegedly into a relationship which Kumar had come to know. Despite several warnings by Kumar, the duo allegedly continued the relationship.

On April 10, Kumar and friend Harikrishnan went to Moorthy’s house and forcibly took him out. The duo had an altercation with Moorthy and they stabbed him with knives. The Saravanampatti police arrested Kumar and Harikrishnan. The court also sentenced Kumar and Harikrishnan to undergo ten years of imprisonment for offence under Section 364 of the IPC.
