Two directors of Fine Futures get bail

Two directors of the Fine Futures, a now-defunct online multilevel marketing firm accused of embezzling Rs. 818 crore from thousands of investors, were granted conditional bail on Tuesday.

Joseph David, the judge in-charge of the Special Court set up here under Tamil Nadu Protection of Interests of Depositors Act to try the Fine Futures case, instructed Vivek and Senthil Kumar to deposit a sum of Rs. 2 lakh and provide a surety for Rs. 10,000.

They were also told to sign daily at the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) unit, which is investigating the case. A 7,000-page charge sheet was filed on May 3 at the Special Court.

Of the four persons named in the charge sheet, Nithyanandam has already been let out on bail.

Satya Lakshmi, the person who looked after accounts of the firm, is yet to be secured, sources said.

Killed in accident

N. Manikandan of Eripatty, Pollachi, was killed in an accident at Puliakulam on Tuesday.

According to the Traffic Investigating Wing-East, the accident involving Manikandan’s two-wheeler and a van happened around midnight. He sustained injuries in the stomach, on the forehead and was rushed to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital, where he died a little later. The Police said that they had arrested A. Kalimuthu, 29, of Paluppampatty, Udumalpet, on charges of rash and negligent driving.
