Plus Two student D. Madankumar and his friend D. Ranjithkumar, 19, drowned in a well in Udukampalayam near Pollachi.
According to the Gomangalam Police, the two boys went to the 50-foot-well to learn swimming. The well had as much as 30 feet of water.
The police said that Ranjithkumar first jumped into the well. On seeing him struggle, Madankumar climbed down but he too suffered.
On seeing the boys cry for help, the residents of the village alerted the Fire and Rescue Services personnel, who came to the spot but found both of them dead.
