Effective night patrolling yields positive results by preventing crime activities

Two ex-convicts have been arrested before they committing another offence.

The police when patrolling the Puliyakulam Road – Trichy Road, intercepted a motorcycle and found that the rider and the pillion rider were carrying silk saris, chain, gas cutter, nose spray, scissors, and an iron rod.

Investigation revealed that the two were ex-convicts and were involved in various house-breaking cases. The two have committed a house breaking and were in possession of the items when the police apprehended them.

The police arrested M. Murugan alias Delhi Murugan (54) and V. Anandan (26), both hailing from Town Hall.

City Police Commissioner Amaresh Pujari has said that the effective night patrolling had yielded rich dividends. No chain snatching or major house breaking incidents had been reported in August.

He also added that 400 various vacancies exist in the City Police and 398 police personnel will be joining the duty soon. “With added strength, the police can do effective patrolling and prevent crime activities in the city,” added Mr. Pujari.

During the last one month, the City police have checked 21,013 vehicles and arrested 1,498 persons on suspicion during intensive vehicle checks at night time.
