August 10, 2013 09:56 am | Updated 09:56 am IST - COIMBATORE:

A trust working in education has appealed for volunteers to teach Government school students using information technology tools.

In a statement issued here, S. Somasundaram, Managing Trustee, Brindavan Vidhya Trust, said that the trust was using a computer aided teaching content, ViNTeach, to teach students of classes I to V in 25 Government primary and middle schools in Coimbatore.

This IT tool will make the subjects easier to comprehend by using visual representations. The trust had already begun training 150 teachers from the 25 schools.

The programme would begin on August 19. It will be held thrice a week. Volunteers would conduct the classes during schools hours. They will cover Tamil, English, mathematics, science and social science, he said.

Those having completed class XII (any group) and possessing good communication skills (either English or Tamil) could volunteer.

The Brindavan Vidhya Trust had already conducted a four-day training programme on mathematics and English for 1,050 students of 18 schools at Devakottai in Sivaganga district recently.

Those interested could contact Mr. Somasundaram at the following mobile no: 98422 49186.
