Trench work begins to keep elephants away

To prevent elephants from straying into human habitations and farms, forest officials in Pollachi have started digging trenches for a distance of two km from Pothamadai to Poongan Olai. The trench, two metres deep and three metres wide, will stop elephants from entering residential areas and help prevent man-animal conflict in the region.
