Trains to be diverted for doubling works

The Southern Railways on Sunday announced that some trains would be diverted for three days from May 3 due to doubling of the 18 km Coimbatore-Irugur stretch.

Trains originating/terminating at Coimbatore junction would pass via Irugur—Podanur junction without touching Coimbatore North Station, a railway release said.

These are the Rajkot—Coimbatore Express, Chennai central— Coimbatore—Chennai Cheran Express, Nagercoil—coimbatore Nagercoil Express, Mayiladuthurai—Coimbatore—Mayiladuthurai Jan Shatabdi Express, Chennai Central—Coimbatore—Chennai Central Intercity Express, Chennai Central—Mettupalayam—Chennai Nilgiri Express.

Kaniyakumari—Mumbai CST—Kanniyakumari Express, Bangalore —Trivandrum—Bangalore Express, Nagore—Ernakulam—Nagore Express, Yeswantpur—Trivandrum—Yeswantpur Garib Rath Express,Ernakulam Chennai Central Summer special, Chennai Central—Mangalore Summer Special, Chennai Central—Kochuveli Summer Special, Trivandrum—Delhi—Trivandrum Kerala Express, Kaniyakumari— Bangalore—Kanniyakumari Express, Gorakhpur—Trivandrum—Gorakpur Rapti Sagar Express, Indore—Trivandrum Ayilanagari express, Korba—Trivandrum—Korba express will be diverted via Irugur—Podanur link skipping Coimbatore Junction, stopping at Podanur, instead of Coimbatore.

This would also apply to Trivandrum—Hyderabad—Trivandrum Express, Chennai Egmore—Mangalore—Chennai Egmore Express, Tata/Dhanbad—Alleppey—Tata/Dhanbad Bokaro Express, Shalimar — Trivandrum Express, Bangalore—Ernakulam—Bangalore Intercity Express, Trichy—Palghat Town—Trichy Passenger,Chennai central— Mangalore—ChennaiWest Coast Express, Chennai central—Trivandrum —Chennai Central Express, Mangalore—Jammu Tawi Express, Nagercoil—Shalimar Express, Ernakulam—Guwahati Express, Kochuveli—Trichy Summer Special, Ernakulam—Patna Express and Trivandrum — Nizamuddin Express, Trains originating and terminting at Pilamedu station instead of Coimbatore include Lokmanya Tilak—Coimbatore — Lokmanya Tilak Express, Erode—Coimbatore—Erode Passengers, Chennai Central—Coimbatore—Chennai Kovai Express, Nagercoil— Coimbatore — Nagercoil passenger.

All trains originating/terminating at Coimbatore Junction via Podanur from Palghat side would have no change and they will be operated from Coimbatore Junction as usual, it said.

Other regular and special trains already running through Podanur—Irugur link will have no change, and will run in the regular route as usual.
