Traffic diversion for Vinayaka idol immersion procession

In view of the Vinayaka idols immersion processions to be taken out across the city on Friday, the police have announced certain changes in the traffic pattern during the day.

According to police, the idols would be taken out on a procession from Raja Street, Vysial Street, Big Bazaar Street, R.S. Puram, Theppakulam, Sivananada Colony and Cowley Brown Road to reach the Muthannankulam tank.

In view of the processions, following traffic diversions would be in place: vehicles from Ukkadam side to Perur and from Vysial Street, Sullivan Street should take the Perur bypass road, Selvapuram, Shivalaya Theatre junction. Vehicles from Ukkadam towards

Tiruchi Road should take the Valankulam bypass road. Vehicles from Ukkadam side towards Mettupalayam Road should take the Oppanakkara Street, VH Road to reach the Avanashi Road flyover. Vehicles can take any road except the Brooke Bond Road. After the procession from Sivanananda Colony crosses the Devangapet Road, Brooke Bond Road will be open for traffic. Vehicles entering the city from Thadagam Road should take the NSR Road, Mettupalayam Road and ARC Junction and reach Sivananda Colony to proceed further. Vehicles from Mettupalayam side should take a left turn at ARC Junction to Sivananda Colony to proceed further.

When the procession begins from Cowley Brown Road, vehicles from Marudhamalai Road will be diverted on Thadagam Road towards GCT and then through Avanashilingam University to reach Mettupalayam Road to proceed further. Vehicles from Perur road should take the Perur bypass road to reach Ukkadam and then proceed further.

When the processions reach Sukrawarpet, vehicles from Gandhipark side towards flyover will be diverted at Three Post via DB Road and then proceed further. In view of the processions, entry of trucks into the city is banned from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
