Traffic diversion for Tamil meet

City Police have announced a list of places where the vehicles from outstations could be parked and traffic management plans on all the five days of the conference.

City Police Commissioner C. Sylendra Babu said that those from Coimbatore city and its peripheral areas could reach the Coimbatore Medical College grounds to park the vehicles.

While returning, the participants could take the same route or proceed via Thaneerpandal Road.

On June 23, during the procession from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., traffic will be restricted on Avanashi Road. Arrangements will be made for the movement of fire and rescue service vehicles, ambulances and wanting to reach the airport.

Those bound for airport and those coming from the airport can use the SIHS Colony Road and Tiruchi Road. The police help them reach Tiruchi Road to proceed to further destinations. On the other days of the conference, there will not be any major traffic restrictions. The arrangements will hold good on the valediction day, June 27, as well.

Vehicles from Chennai, Kancheepuram, Thiruvallur, Vellore, Tiruvannamalai, Villuppuram, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Salem, Namakkal and Erode districts on crossing Karumathampatti should take a turn from Thennampalayam to reach Kalappatti and use the parking lots from Kalapatti to SITRA.

Similarly, vehicles from Nagapattinam, Thiruvarur, Thanjavur, Tiruchirapalli, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Cuddalore, Puducherry, Karur districts can come via Kangeyam, Palladam, Sulur and take the L&T Bypass road to reach Neelambur and from there they could come up to Government Polytechnic and park their vehicles there. vehicles from Kanyakumari, Tirunelvei, Tuticorin, Virudhunagar, Sivaganga, Ramanathapuram, Madurai, Theni, Dindigul districts can take the Pollachi, Eachanari road and enter the L&T bypass road near Karpagam College to reach Avanashi Road.

The vehicles can be parked at the parking space behind the Government Polytechnic. Vehicles from Udhagamandalam, Mettuppalayam and Sathyamgangalam can come via Annur and park vehicles there.

Mr. Sylendra Babu said that general public can view the procession from road side from VOC Park to Hope College.

To reach Avanashi Road, people could use Lakshmi Mill – Puliakulam Road, Nava India Road, Ranga Vilas Mills – GV Residency Road, Sowripalayam Road and Masakkalipalayam Road. People from places other than Coimbatore could reach Tiruchi Road and use any of these roads to reach Avanashi Road.
