Topper makes Tirupur proud

May 24, 2014 09:51 am | Updated 09:51 am IST - Tirupur:

For the first time in the history of Tirupur district, a student has bagged the first rank at the State level in Class X examination.

S. Varshini of Veveaham Girls HSS in Dharapuram, who shared the State first rank with 499 out of the total 500 marks, told The Hindu that she wanted to become a doctor. The only mark Ms. Varshini lost was in Tamil. Daughter of V. Senapathy, a financier, and K. Hamsavalli, a government school teacher, Varshini attributed her success to the special coaching sessions conducted by the school authorities and the extra hours she put for studies in the days leading to the examination.

“We gave additional care equally to all the 166 students who appeared from the school in the examination,” R. Subramanian, the correspondent of Veveaham school, said.

J. Jaishree (Saradha Vidyalaya Matriculation HSS, Velampalayam), P. Maalini (Srinivasa Vidhayalaya Matric HSS, Udumalpet) and S.M. Vignesh (Vivekananda Vidhyalaya Matriculation HSS, Muthur) scored 498 marks to share the State second rank from the district.
