Drivers and conductors of the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation resorted to a flash strike demanding that action be taken against a passenger who injured a conductor on Monday.

Ramakrishnan of Pollachi, in an inebriated condition, picked up a quarrel with Selvaraj (50), a conductor, at the Pollachi bus stand.

When Ramakrishnan whipped out a knife, Selvaraj received injuries on his forehead. The other crew of buses took him to a hospital.

The crew said that last week too a similar incident occurred and the culprit was yet to be arrested.

The police have arrested Ramakrishnan.

He was earlier detained under the Goondas Act, the police said.

The crew called off the strike after Pollachi V. Jayaraman, Deputy Speaker, promised to look into their grievance.
