Tension prevailed for almost three hours at Tirupur Old Bus Stand as Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) employees stopped services following alleged assault of a driver of one TNSTC bus by a policeman on Thursday.
The other employees of the TNSTC, who grouped together, had then reportedly assaulted the policeman.
Commotion began after driver of a private bus parked the vehicle in front of a TNSTC-owned town bus plying between Veerapandi and Vanchipalayam blocking its path.
The TNSTC driver questioned the act and it led to a heated argument between the two. As the wordy duel intensified, the policeman came to the spot and said to have assaulted the TNSTC bus driver.
The incident infuriated the fellow TNSTC workers who immediately stopped the services and charged at the policeman.
After three hours, the disputes were settled at the mediation of senior police officials and TNSTC officials and services were restored to normality.
