Tamil Nadu Agriculture Minister Veerapandi S. Arumugam on Wednesday assured Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) farm workers that they would receive the payment of about Rs. 4,300 under 6th pay commission, as being given to the Noon meal and Anganawadi Workers.

In his acceptance speech to the felicitation organised by TNAU Farm Workers Union, for regularising the services of more than 2,100 daily wagers over the last two years, Arumugam said that the Government was also considering providing them the benefit of medical leave, earned leave and festival advance, as given to other Government employees.

Stating that 2,146 daily wagers, who were working for the last 10 to 25 years, were made permanent and were now getting a wage of Rs. 3441, the Minister said that the Government was seriously considering to make another 980 daily wagers in the sector, permanent.

He said the government has set up 16 welfare boards in unorganised sector and 13 boards connected with various government departments, for the benefit of employees.
