Tirupur woman bags fifth rank in TNPSC exam

R. Maheswari (31) from Angeripalayam in the city is elated as she emerged topper among women and secured overall fifth rank in State in the examination held by Tamil Nadu Public Services Commission to select Group-II officers.

She is selected as Municipal Commissioner and will be undergoing training shortly.

The examination for Group-II officers select candidates for the posts of Municipal Commissioners, Sub-Registrars and Labour Inspectors, among a few others, depending on the rank attained by the candidates in the written tests and interview.

Ms. Maheswari, wife of Anand Raj who works as a pharmacist at PSG Hospital in Coimbatore, wrote the examination last year and appeared for the interview this June to get selected.


“My husband has been the biggest inspiration to write the examination,” she told The Hindu.

Mother of a six-year-old girl, Ms. Maheswari, who graduated from Chikkanna Government Arts College here, plans to appear for examination to select Group-I officers yet again.

“I have tried in 2009 but did not succeed,” she said.
