Tirupur police to deploy more patrol vehicles to control crime

With the arrest of three youths at Tirupur on Tuesday the police claimed to have solved seven major crime cases that took place in the district over the last three months.

The arrested were E. Vijayakumar (21), B. Surendra Babu (21) and S. Prakash (21).

Superintendent of Police A. Arun told reporters that 40 sovereigns of jewellery and two motorbikes were recovered from the accused.

Those arrested, according to Mr Arun, committed five robberies, one burglary and a theft at places falling under Anupparpalayam, Tirupur North, Tirupur Rural and Avinashi police stations.

Patrol vehicles

Mr Arun said that four more patrol vehicles would be introduced in the district within a week to bring down crime.

The new vehicles would be used to patrol Perumanallur, Dharapuram, Uthukuli and Tirupur south areas.
