A multi-tiered security comprising personnel from the Central paramilitary forces, Tamil Nadu Special Battalions and the city and rural police have been put in place at the two counting centres in the district ahead of the counting day on Friday.

The counting for Coimbatore Parliamentary Seat would take place at the Government College of Technology on Thadagam, and for Pollachi, at the Dr. Mahalingam College of Engineering and Technology on Udumalai Road. Access to these centres would be tightly controlled.

The counting would begin at 8 a.m. General Observers Rajendra Mohan Srivastava and Raajiv Yadhuvanshi would supervise the counting for Coimbatore and Pollachi respectively. The results of each round would be displayed on monitors that would be installed around the counting centres.

According to sources, the counting centres would have a total of 14 tables for each Assembly segment in a Parliamentary constituency. Each table would have three persons – a micro observer, an assistant and a supervisor. Each Constituency would have a total of 252 personnel involved in the counting process.

Election Commission of India had also made arrangements for live streaming of the counting. In each Parliamentary Constituency, the Returning Officer’s room and the Constituency Assembly segments will be available for public viewing.

Camera installed at the Assembly segment would show counting process and those at the Returning Officer’s room would focus on the round-wise results, which would be displayed on a digital board. The award of elections certificate to the winning candidate can also be seen through this camera.

A website public.gelsws.in has been created, which can be accessed by public to view this live video streaming.
