Tiger skin seized, eight held

The Forest Department on Thursday arrested eight persons and seized tiger skin from their possession during a vehicle check.

Following a tip off about movement of a gang from Thiruvannamalai, Conservator of Forests, Coimbatore Circle, V.T. Kandasamy and District Forest Officer V. Thirunavukkarasu constituted special teams led by Range Officers G. Rajeshwaran and L.C.S. Sreekanth and conducted vehicle check at Karumathampatti.

During the check, the team intercepted a car with eight persons. On examination, they were found to possess a bag with tiger skin. The tiger skin was seized and the eight have been arrested. A case has been registered under the Wildlife Protection Act of 1972. The tiger skin is being sent for examination.
