Three killed in bus-van collision near Coimbatore

Three persons were killed on the spot in an accident involving a van and a State owned city bus at Chettippalayam on the outskirts of Coimbatore City on Tuesday morning.

According to police, a Maruti Omni van driven by Sivakumar (40) was heading from Coimbatore to Chettippalayam. Mason Rathnam (39) of Seerapalayam and Carpenter Mani (39) of Othakkalmandapam also travelled in the vehicle. While overtaking another vehicle, the car is said to have rammed into a bus coming in the opposite direction. In the impact, all the three died on the spot. Police are questioning the bus driver Karthikeyan.

A case has been registered in this connection. Further investigations are on.
