Three held for murder

May 16, 2013 02:56 pm | Updated 03:14 pm IST - COIMBATORE:

When the battered body of Gurusamy, 40, a resident of Nallampalayam, was found on Sunday night near a liquor outlet at Nallampalayam-Maniakaranpalayam Road, it was initially presumed that he was killed in a road accident.

However, post-mortem examination revealed that the death was because of severe head injuries that could not be the result of an accident, leading the police to conclude that Gurusamy must have been murdered.

Upon investigation, the Saravanampatti Police found that Gurusamy had gone to a liquor outlet on Sunday night and picked up a quarrel with three persons – Ramachandran, 55, Nataraj, 40 and Murugesan, 40.

Armed with an wooden club, Gurusamy intercepted the three persons, who were in an inebriated state, near the outlet. In the scuffle, Ramachandran, Nataraj, and Murugesan allegedly assaulted Gurusamy following which he died on the spot.

The Saravanampatti Police on Tuesday arrested the three persons on the charge of murder and remanded them in custody.

Investigations are on.
