Three detained for stealing opioid drugs

The Kattoor police have detained three persons in connection with a series of thefts of opioid drugs from hospitals across Coimbatore recently.

The Coimbatore Branch of the Indian Medical Association had written to the City Police Commissioner, bringing to his attention the theft of opioids such as Pentazocin from three hospitals across the city recently.

Police officials said that they had detained three persons, who were caught stealing the drugs from a hospital in Ramnagar on Saturday.

Being questioned

They said that the three men have been detained and that the police were questioning them.

Police suspect that the men were running a racket selling the drugs to youth in the city.
