Thousands of devotees thronged the Masani Amman Temple at Anamalai, near Pollachi, on Sunday morning for the Mahakumbabishekam performed at 8.10 a.m.
The entire temple was renovated at a cost of Rs. 2.93 crore and the works included the golden chariot, the mandapam, raja gopuram and annadana mandapam among others.
Perur Ilaya Pattam Adhinam, State Highways Secretary G. Santhanam, Pollachi MP K. Sugumar, MLAs V. Jayaraman, S.P. Velumani and S.M. Velusami participated.
Parking lots designated on all four sides of Anamalai considerably eased the problem of traffic flow. The local body had made arrangements in terms of public convenience and drinking water to ensure comfort to the devotees. The rural police managed crowd control and queue arrangements that came handy to handle the large number of devotees.
The arrangements will remain in place for a few more days, as the temple authorities expect more people to visit the temple. The poojas that began well ahead of the kumbabishekam will continue for a couple of days.
