As many as 18,603 candidates appeared for the Group II examination in the district on Sunday. The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission conducted the examination in 62 centres in the district and at several places across the State.
According to a release from the district administration, 26,735 candidates had applied for the examination. Collector Archana Patanaik conducted a surprise check at the examination centre at the Government Arts College.
The administration had formed flying squads, 19 mobile units, and deployed 89 teachers to invigilate the examination. It had also arranged for video recording the writing of the examination. At sensitive locations, it had arranged for web hosting the conduct of the examination.
The release added that the administration had also provided adequate security for the conduct of the examination.
In Tirupur , a total of 10,324 people appeared for the examination held in 32 centres spread over three revenue divisions in the district. District Collector G. Govindaraj, District Revenue Officer R. Gajalakshmi, and various Revenue Divisional Officers conducted random checks at various centres.
As many as 27,985 candidates appeared for the TNPSC Group II examination in 129 centres set up in 84 schools in Krishnagiri and Dharmapuri districts on Sunday. The examination went off peacefully, without giving any room for malpractice in the districts.
In Krishnagiri , 9,763 candidates appeared for the examination. The examination was held in Krishnagiri, Hosur and Denkanikottai. Visually-challenged persons appeared for the examination with the help of scribes.
District Collector T.P. Rajesh inspected some of the examination centres in Krishnagiri along with the revenue and education department officials.
In Dharmapuri , 18,222 candidates appeared for the examination in 84 centres in 49 schools in Dharmapuri, Pappireddipatti and Harur. District Collector K. Vivekanandan inspected the centres in Dharmapuri.
In Salem , a total of 34,184 candidates applied for the Group-II examination. While the district administration made arrangements for the candidates to write their preliminary exam in 92 centres, a total of 9,468 of them (25 percent of the applicants) did not turn up for the examination, District Revenue Officer S. Selvaraj said.
In Namakkal , out of the 20,368 candidates who applied for the examination, as many as 5,230 persons were absent, while 15,140 of them wrote the examination”, District Collector V. Dakshinamoorthy said.
He added that 20 teams including eight flying squads were formed to conduct the examination in a fair manner.
