The Chairman of GEM Hospital C. Palanivelu received the first copy of The Hindu's feature ‘Jewels of The Noyyal’ from the Managing Director of Sri Krishna Sweets M. Krishnan here, on Saturday. Director, Sri Krishna Sweets, Haritha Krishnan was also present during the launch at the office of The Hindu in Coimbatore.
The quarterly feature will highlight persons hailing from Coimbatore and Tirupur regions who have played a key role in the growth of Coimbatore. A jewel club will soon be formed with eminent personalities.
Lauding the effort to bring out a feature on people instrumental in developing the city, Mr. Krishnan said that the feature would be a vehicle for branding and showcasing the city.
“From being recognised as the Manchester of South India for its textile business, the city has evolved into an industrial and healthcare hub,” he said.
He felt that the achievers who played a key role in making Coimbatore what it is today should be recognised with awards. He also said that efforts should be taken to conserve River Noyyal and preserve the culture on the banks of the river that paved way for the development of this city.
Dr. Palanivelu said that people from across industries get trained in Coimbatore but the city and its bright minds were not recognised on a par with the other cities.
On January 26 (Monday), the advertorial and promotional feature will be available free of cost with copies of The Hindu and The HinduBusiness Line in select pockets in Coimbatore and with The HinduBusiness Line in select pockets in Chennai.
