Tension at Thudiyalur

August 10, 2011 02:16 pm | Updated 02:16 pm IST - COIMBATORE:

Tension prevailed at Vadamadurai Road on Tuesday, when around 60 members of a particular community tried to stage a road block seeking alternative land for putting up their hutments. The incident comes as follow up when people of the community allegedly encroached a private land in Palanicoundenpudur on Monday, by putting huts and hoisting a political party flag. Only after the intervention of the Tahsildar and other authorities, they dispersed. But on Tuesday, they tried to block the road, which were prevented by the police officials. Authorities held talks and later they dispersed.

Protestors removed

Cadres of Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) protested against corruption and price rise at Periyanaickenpalayam on Tuesday. They raised slogans and held placards. The police arrested 318 cadres.
