The third edition of Taste of Coimbatore, a food festival organised by Coimbatore District Hoteliers’ Association (CDHA) as part of Coimbartore Vizha was inaugurated by P.R.G. Arunkumar, MLA, on Friday evening at VOC Ground.

With around 140 food stalls, the three-day fest (till January 7; 5 pm to 10 pm) brings together vegetarian and non-vegetarian food including sweets, bakes, juices and ice cream from different hotels, home-bakers and caterers from the city.

R. Balachandar, secretary of CDHA and chairman of the fest, said, “There are around 30 to 40 brands serving non-vegetarian, 20-25 serving vegetarian, 10 for bakes and chats, 10 for juices and ice-cream and around 10 caterers from the city. The food will be served in small portions, so that people can try out a variety of dishes. The prices are also set lesser than the standard restaurant rates.”

Tickets are available for ₹150 at the entrance. “Of the ticket price, ₹100 can be reimbursed at any of the food stalls,” said Mr. Balachandar. The stalls include Sree Annapoorna, A-1 chips, Hotel Arrunnachala, Hotel Valarmathi, Sree Subbu Mess, Venu Biriyani, Haribhavanam, Boomerang, Shree Anandhaas, The French Door, Frooze, Choco Choza etc.

There was a performance by singer Satya Prakash at the venue on the first day. “Super–singer fame Priyanka and Nikhil Mathew will perform on January 6. There will also be a cookery show on the same day. On January 7, Sounds of Isha will perform,” said Mr. Balachandar.
