Coimbatore District Differently Abled Welfare Association, Sri Gita Bhavan Trust, and a few other organisations will hold ‘swayamvaram’ (a wedding assistance platform) on September 11 at B.M.N. Trust Wedding Hall, near G.N. Mills Bus Stop.
Association president A. Kanniyappan told journalists at a press meet here on Friday that the organisations planned to provide the swayamvaram platform to help the differently abled persons find a life partner as many were unable to get one.
Persons without disability were also welcome to participate in the programme if they intended to marry differently abled persons. The organisers were holding the event at no cost and this was for the first time they were doing so in Coimbatore.
Thus far, the organisations had conducted the programme in eight districts, Coimbatore was the ninth and they planned to hold one more.
Counselling
Mr. Kanniyappan said that after the differently abled persons find their match, the organisations would provide social, legal and psychological counselling, particularly for the prospective couples where only one partner would be differently abled.
And, thereafter the organisations would help them get married at a mass wedding ceremony to be held in Chennnai on December 14, 2016.
