Surprise prizes for wearing helmets

January 17, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:37 am IST - COIMBATORE:

The City Traffic Police on Friday gave away prizes to motorists wearing helmets as part of the Road Safety Week observance. The surprise drive was carried out by the traffic police, home guards and traffic wardens for a few minutes at Singanallur, Gandhipuram, Lakshmi Mills, Ramanathapuram, G.P. Signal and Peelamedu junctions in the morning and in the evening.

Traffic police personnel also distributed CDs with short films and documentaries on road safety and awareness pamphlets at Brookefield and Fun mall, to reach out to the mass when education institutions – prime targets of road safety awareness – are closed for Pongal Holidays.
