Sudan national held with ganja

A Sudan national was held on charges of possessing ganja while he was about to board a Sharjah-bound flight from Coimbatore on Saturday. The police have identified him as Mohammed Tariq Salik (22), student of a private engineering college in Coimbatore. He had come to the airport to board the early morning flight to Sharjah scheduled to depart at 4.20 p.m. The police said that the narcotic substance was found during a checking of baggage by personnel of Central Industrial Security Force. He was later handed over to the Peelamedu police where a case was registered against him. Inspector (law and order) V. Selvaraj said that the foreigner was released on bail.

In a separate case, the Saravanampatti police arrested two persons and seized 500g of ganja from them. R. Siddhu (25) of K.K. Patty in Theni and A. Rajkumar (23) from Vadivel Nagar in Karur were held from a place near Viswasapuram bustop, Saravanampatti, on Friday afternoon.
