Officials of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti Corruption (DVAC) arrested N. Sabhapathy, a Sub-Registrar at Dharapuram, after reportedly been caught while taking bribe from Manikandan of Dharapuram.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DVAC) N. Ravichandran told The Hindu that Sabhapathy demanded Rs. 4,000 from Manikandan for releasing the partnership deed for which he applied from the Registration department’s office at Dharapuram. Manikandan immediately reported the matter to DVAC officials, who asked Manikandan to hand over the amount to the official.

Soon after Manikandan handed over the amount, the DVAC officials caught the Sub-Registrar.

Mr. Ravichandran said the arrest was made under Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
