While persons from North Eastern part of India leaving the city was witnessed even on Saturday, there was not a significant number of students among them.
Representatives from educational institutions said that those staying in the hostel preferred to remain rather than go back home. Students have said that they felt safe within the confines of the colleges. While some colleges had only a minimal number from the North East, a few others had a considerable number between 25 and 30.
About those staying outside the college premises, the authorities said that till last night their decision was not to leave for home. Since the institutions were closed for three days, there was a possibility they might take a break.
