For the fourth day on Friday the students of Forest College and Research Institute, Mettupalayam, abstained from classes to protest against the reduction in quota of reservation in appointment to the forest ranger post and introduction of reservation quota in appointment to forester post.

The students said that 10 boys and as many girls held the pots containing embers to pray to trees. They have said that their protest was indefinite and would continue till the State Government redressed their grievances.
