Christina Shobia (18) of Kolakombai in the Nilgiris district, doing her Lab Technician course in a paramedical college run by a private hospital, died after falling from the ninth floor of her hostel building located inside the hospital premises in the small hours of Tuesday.
Hospital sources and classmates told police that the victim was in a depressed state of mind over a personal problem, which would have forced her to ‘commit suicide'.
Complaint lodged
Illayabharathi (19), pursuing fashion designing course in a college in Tirupur preferred a complaint with the police in Coimbatore on Tuesday accusing the college authorities of having humiliated him by removing his clothes in the presence of other students. The boy accompanied by his parents and relatives preferred a complaint stating that the authorities asked him to remove clothes in the name of searching for a cellular phone lost by one of his classmates.
Burglary
Burglars gained entry into a house at Uthiyur near here on Tuesday and decamped with seven sovereign jewellery. Police said the accused entered by breaking open the front door lock when the tenant, N. Saravanan (35), and his family were away.
