A large number of parents thronged a private matriculation school in Kavundampalayam on Wednesday morning protesting against fee structure leading to commotion and a road blockade.

It is learnt that the parents first objected to the increase in fee structure and picketed the school and then it was decided to hold talks with the school management, parents and education department officials and then decide on the fee structure and implement the same next month.

However, parents who were not sure of a solution to the fee structure problem gathered in front of the school in large numbers.

Councillor of the area, Nagarajan was also present, trying to sort out the issue.

Meanwhile, reports that the councillor was manhandled by a police officer led to commotion.

Later, the officials from police, revenue and education department promised that the issue would be sorted out amicably.

Following the assurance, the road blockade was lifted by the protestors.
