The State Government will roll out a Start-up policy in three months, said Dharmendra Pratap Yadav, State MSME Secretary, here on Friday. Speaking on the sidelines of the final day of the Smart India Hackathon – Hardware Edition – 2018 at FORGE KCT Tech Park, one of the nodal centre for the nationwide programme, Mr. Yadav said that consultations are on at department level for the policy.

Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami had already announced ₹ 20 crore as Start-up Vouchers.

A Government Order in this regard has already been issued, but it is yet to be disbursed, he added.

The State Government was giving much importance to have more job creaters instead of job seekers through incubation centres set up at IIT Chennai and Anna University.

The Entrepreneurial Development Institute (EDI) in association with private players will encourage all engineering colleges to have incubation centres.

As many as 110 teams from colleges across the country participated in the five-day event. As many as nine teams qualified to enter the finals. The theme for the Smart India Hackathon was import substitution, said Vish Sahasranamam, co-founder and CEO of FORGE. He said that FORGE gave insights on “Value beyond Devices: Building Scalable Hardware Startups''. AICTE Vice-Chairman M.P. Poonia said that first edition of the Smart Digital Hackathon for software held last year had received good response.
