The celebration of the Nilgiri Mountain Railway (NMR) Day this year will be marked by a Heritage Run, according to the Public Relations Officer, Southern Railway Salem Division D. Omprakash.
Stating that the heritage run by a steam train would take place on September 15, he told newspersons here on Tuesday that it will be exclusively for special and physically challenged children.
Pointing out that it is being organised with the help of the District Disabled Rehabilitation Office, he said around forty children will be on the train which would be run between Coonoor and Ooty.
Many of them will be travelling by the NMR for the first time.
A one-day heritage exhibition here would form part of the occasion.
