Southern railway announces diversion and cancellation of trains

A number of trains running between the Ernakulam—Mulanthuruthi section have been diverted, cancelled or rescheduled from Monday to March 26 due to doubling work on the sector, the Southern Railway said on Sunday.

Trains would be diverted via Ernakulam—Alappuzha—Kayankulam section instead of via Ernakulam—Kottayam—Kayankulam and would not touch Piravam Road, Ettumanur, Kottayam, Changanasseri, Tiruvalla, Chengannur and Mavelikara, a railway press release said.

It said Thiruvananthapuram—New Delhi Kerala Express would be rescheduled to leave Trivandrum on March 15(90 minutes late), March 17 (45 minutes late), March 18 (75 minutes late) and March 24 (45 minutes late). Likewise, Thiruvananthapuram—Guwahati Express has been rescheduled by 45 minutes from Trivandrum on March 21 and the Kochuveli—Yesvantpur Express by 30 minutes from Kochuveli on March 25.

It said the Ernakulam—Kayankulam—Ernakulam Passenger would be fully cancelled from March 17 to 26.

The Mangalore—Thiruvananthapuram Express and Hyderabad — Kochuveli Sabari Express would be regulated for 30 minutes en route before Ernakulam town on March 19. Likewise, the Shoranur—Thiruvananthapuram Venad Express will be regulated for 15 minutes at Ernakulam Junction on March 16,21,23,25 and 26.

Trains to stop at Chertala, Alappuzha, Amabalpuzha, Haripad and Kayankulam would include Lokmanya Tilak (T)— Kochuveli Garibrath Express (March 16 and 23), Mangalore Thiruvananthapuram Parusuram Express (Mar 17, 20—26),Hyderabad Kochuveli Sabari Express(March17, 20—26),Kanyakumari—Mumbai CST Express(March17, 19—26),Jammu Tawi—Kanyakumari Himsagar Express (March 18& 25).

It would include Delhi—Thiruvananthapuram Kerala Express (March 19—26) Bangalore—Kanyakumari Express (March19—26), Thiruvananthapuram Mangalore Parusuram Express(March 19—26), Kochuveli—Hyderabad Sabari Express (Mar 19—26), Korba Thiruvananthapuram Express (Mar 19,22&26), Kochuveli—Dehradun Express(March 19 and 26, Kochuveli—Lokmanya Tilak (T) Garibrath Express(March 21& 25), Thiruvananthapuram—Delhi Kerala Express March 21, 23, 25&26, Dehradun—Kochuveli Exp March 24, Shalimar — Nagercoil Gurudev Express (March 26), it said.
