Soldier shoots himself at Sulur Air Base

A 42-year-old soldier at the Sulur Air Base in Coimbatore district committed suicide by shooting himself on his head on Monday morning.

The victim was identified as K. Ravi (42) of Kalipramba village in Kuppam post of Kannur district, Kerala.

He joined the Indian Air Force as a soldier on August 4, 2010.

He was transferred to Sulur Air Base on June 28, 2015. The police said that he got married in 2014 and that his wife was in Kannur while he stayed here.

It is learnt that he went on medical leave on April 2 and was back to duty after 21 days on Sunday.

On Monday, while on duty, he went to a rest room nearby and fired at himself to death.
