Six ‘suicides' on a single day

Six cases of “suicide” were reported in the city on Wednesday.

S. Senthil Kumar (30) of Puliakulam, an autorickshaw driver, reportedly committed suicide at his residence by consuming liquor mixed with poison.

Loan repayment

The Ramanathapuram police said Kumar had purchased a van on loan. Due to non-payment of the loan, he might have taken the extreme decision, it is said.

P. Muthurasan (48) of Vadavalli, reportedly committed suicide by drowning in Muthannankulam Lake.

The R.S. Puram police said that Mutharasan is an alcoholic and due to health ailments, he might have ended his life.

Cow dung powder

Rangathal (80) of V.K. Road allegedly committed suicide by consuming cow dung powder at her residence.

The Peelamedu said that her husband and son had died earlier and that might be the reason for her taking the extreme decision.

J. Jayaram (37) of Kumaran Street reportedly committed suicide by hanging at his residence on Monday.

The Variety Hall Road police said Jayaram was a native of Karnataka and was working as a goldsmith in the city.

The police said his health ailments might have been the reason for his decision.

R. Sivam (38) of Nalvar Layout reportedly committed suicide by hanging at his residence.

The Rathinapuri police said he might have taken his life over his non-payment of monthly dues towards a car loan.

Found hanging

Vidhya (26) of Pongiammal Street, allegedly committed suicide by hanging at her residence.

The police said that she was married to Rajagopal, who committed suicide two months ago. This might have been the reason for her to have taken the extreme decision, it is said.
