Six held for selling IMFL without permit

Six persons were arrested from as many places in the district on Pongal day on the charges of selling Indian Made Foreign Liquor without any permit. The police said of the accused, S. Marimuthu and four others were picked up while they were engaged in selling liquor very close to the TASMAC-run IMFL outlets, while Anand Raj was arrested when trying to sell it inside a tea shop. All of them were later released on bail, police sources added.

Ganja seized

Two persons were arrested by Tirupur South police on the charges of possessing 4 kg kilograms of ganja.

The accused – R. Sukumar (31), a native of Theni, and R. Selvam, a resident of Murugampalayam in Tirupur, were remanded to judicial custody under Section 20 (1) (b) of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
