South-West Monsoon continues to bring in good news in the form of showers over the Siruvani Dam and its catchments.

According to sources in the Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board, in the 24 hours ending 8 a.m. Friday, the dam received 60 mm and the Adivaram (the foothills) 10 mm.

The sources say that if the rain continues and the water level in the dam increases by 30 cm, the board can do away with pumping water as the flow will be through gravity.

And if that happens, the board might not have to write to the Kerala Government asking for extension of permission to pump water. The board is confident that such a situation may not arise, the sources add.
