Handicrafts and home décor products, seeds, saplings and garden equipment, ready to cook items, and even travel packages - all these and more are available at Coimbatore Shopping Festival.

With about 350 stalls spread over one lakh sq.ft. the 10-day event is back in town. Coimbatore District Small Industries Association has organised the second edition of the festival at the Codissia Trade Fair Complex which began on Friday. The entry fee is Rs. 30 per head.

Cultural events in the evenings, a food court with nearly 15 stalls, new product launches, special offers, and New Year celebrations are all part of the expo.

Be it kitchen equipment, consumer durables, furniture, educational CDs for students, weighing scales, saris and dhoties, home furnishing, garden equipment, Thanjavur paintings, fitness equipment, healthcare products, jewellery, carpets, handbags, environment friendly items such as jute bags, solar water heaters, mini refrigerators, water purifiers, and automobiles are among the wide range of products exhibited.

From home-made items and local brands to imported goods and handicrafts of other States, the shopping festival has it all.

Though most of the participants are from the region, there are some from other States too.

According to the organisers, the shopping festival is an opportunity for the visitors to shop for their household needs under one roof, watch cultural events, and spend the day with their friends and family. It also gives a boost to local trade and businesses and thus helps the local economy. Apart from the retailers, some of the city-based industries have also displayed the consumer products that they make.

Those introducing new products are able to expand their business network through the event too.

The association plans to organise the shopping festival every year for 10 days from December 26.
