To facilitate effective detection of crime cases
The Superintendent of Police, V. Balakrishnan, has instructed the police officials to share intelligence related to criminal activities with all police stations in the district, for effective detection of crime cases and recovery of properties involved in various crimes.
“The immediate sharing of information on the accused arrested to other stations will help us solve many more cases if the accused was involved in multiple incidents,” he told the officials.
Mr. Balakrishnan was speaking at a meeting to review crime data here on Tuesday.
The Superintendent of Police later told The Hindu that a special team under a Sub-Inspector had been constituted to monitor the accused coming out of prisons on bail and also ex-convicts as part of efforts to bring down the crime rate.
This apart, the police officials had been instructed to conduct surprise vehicle checks across the district without confining themselves to routine inspections at check-posts, in order to check movement of criminals.
He said that setting up of closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras at all check posts would be expedited as part of the efforts to fight crime.
The Superintendent of Police gave away cash awards to a total of 38 police personnel for excelling in crime detection and for creating traffic awareness effectively in the district.
