The Forest College and Research Institute of the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University has launched seven post-graduate specialisation programmes in forestry in the 2012-13 academic year.
A release says that MBA in Forest Business Management, M.Sc. (Forestry) in Forest Resource Management, M.Sc. (Forestry) in Tree Breeding and Biotechnology, M.Sc. (Forestry) in Silviculture and Agroforestry, M.Sc. (Forestry) in Wood Science and Technology, M.Sc. (Forestry) in Ecology and Environment, and M.Sc. (Forestry) in Wildlife Management are the courses that have been introduced. Twenty-five students have been admitted to the first batch. A release says that the launch meeting was held at the Forest College and Research Institute campus at Mettupalayam. Principal, Central Forest Academy, Jose T. Mathew presided and launched the new courses. He congratulated the university for introducing the courses.
Dean, Forest College and Research Institute, P. Durairasu spoke about the importance of specialisation in forestry and said that the new courses had been designed to have professionals in scientific management of Indian forests.
