Four persons, including two women, were killed when a car in which they were travelling collided head on with an oncoming bus on the Udumalpet - Pollachi Road around 9 a.m. on Monday.
According to police, the accident took place at Gomangalampudur. Kitturaj (35), his wife Najeswari (29), their relatives Neelaveni (32) and Selvam (27) were returning after attending a wedding at Udumalpet, when the car collided against a private bus proceeding from Pollachi to Udumalpet.
The car was thrown off the road in the impact of the collision. Kitturaj and Selvam died on the spot, while the two women succumbed to the injuries on the way to the hospital. As a result of the accident, traffic was briefly disrupted. Gomangalampudur police are investigating.
Three killed
Three persons were killed and 33 injured when the private bus they were travelling in overturned and fell into a valley at Nadupatti along Tirupur-Uthukuli road on Monday evening. Police sources said the deceased were identified as Arjun Khosla (48), Mukundan (20) and Satoor (20), all hailing from Orissa. The other details of the deceased were yet to be ascertained. The bus was operating shuttle service between Erode and Tirupur. The Uthukuli police have registered a case and are investigating.
