Search operations to locate the missing foreigners in Cauvery River in Tamil Nadu border continued for the second day on Thursday.
Police and revenue sources said that Ian Turton Richard 45 of Gliwice in Poland and his Briton friend Michael David Easton (57) allegedly ventured into Cauvery River with inflated balloon on an adventure trip.
It was informed that they started their adventure trip from Muthatti in Mandya District of Karnataka to Anchetti in Krishnagiri district of Tamil Nadu on Saturday last.
They had apparently told his cab driver to come to Anchetti to pick them up, but failed to reach the destination. The cab driver informed the Karnataka police and also their employers in Hosur and Bangalore.
Meanwhile, the communication between the foreign nationals and their employers were lost from Sunday.
On the basis of their employers, the police, revenue and other related departments started combing operations in jungles near Anchetti, and all along the Cauvery River that flows deep inside the Reserve Forests in Krishnagiri district.
It was alleged that the area they had chosen for adventure trip is dangerous, as there are number of crocodiles and other wild animals ventured into the Cauvery River inside the Reserve Forests.
The Karanataka police had conducted combing operations through hired helicopter in Tamilnadu border.
Meanwhile, the raft in which the foreigners started their trip in Muthatti was found floating near Megathathu in Karnataka on Wednesday evening.
It was told that the Forest, Revenue and Police departments too joined in the search operations. The fate of the two foreign nationals was not known till Thursday evening, the sources said.
