June 15, 2013 02:14 pm | Updated November 16, 2021 10:53 pm IST - COIMBATORE:

The Department of School Education has warned private schools to refrain from collecting fees in excess of the levels determined by the Private Schools Fee Determination Committee.

Any school found deviating from the norms will be dealt with severely with possible de-recognition of the school itself.

According to an official release, the committee had determined the fees for years 2013-16 and the details had been put up on the website - >http://sp.tn.gov.in/school_fees .

As such, it has been found that some schools were violating the orders of the committee and were collecting excess fees.

This was leading to several protests by parents who were agitating at the office of Chief Educational Officer and at the Collectorate during the public grievances meetings on Monday.

As this was creating law and order problems, the department had warned schools to strictly adhere to the committee rulings.
